McLaren Photonic Therapy Torch
What is McLaren Photonic Light Therapy?
McLaren Photonic Therapy is an effective, safe, painless, scientifically advanced form of acupuncture utilizing red light, not laser, to gently stimulate the horses's own capacity to reduce pain, increase the immune response and promote healing.
How do I treat horse's?
The McLaren Photonic Therapy system is based on the use of a specific torch like instrument which produces 185 mW of energy in the 660nm wavelength which is turned on and placed on the skin. This allows a horse to be treated using only 5 seconds per point.
Normally it only takes 4 to 6 treatments to fix all but the most serious problems. Treatments are given every second day. You may give daily treatment and even though it will produce no harm it will not make the horse heal any faster although in the case of a fresh injury it will assist in removing pain.
What will happen to your horse?
When a horse is treated you may notice some or all of a number of features which range from the horse drawing up its flanks, raising its tail, quietly passing wind or dropping its head and becoming sleepy.
After diagnosing a problem and then treating the horse, you should be able to go back over the tender or reactive points and notice a reduction in the reaction. Within 48 hours or after the second treatment there should be a marked improvement even if the horse is not completely better.
How does Chinese acupuncture relate to Western medicine?
Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese medical art of inserting fine needles into predetermined points of the body to produce physiological changes and healing. As a treatment system acupuncture is as effective as or in some cases more effective than western medicine particularly when treating horses. Until recently the mode of action was not fully understood and it could only be explained in terms of ancient, non-scientific, conceptual terms.
Physiology is the study of how the body functions. Neurophysiology is the study of how the nervous system functions.
Now that acupuncture's action can be explained in scientific terms it may be demonstrated that acupuncture is a form of applied neurophysiology.
This understanding enabled the introduction of a rational advanced method of non-invasive "acupuncture" treatment which is pain-free, sterile, safe and very effective.
By using the energy of particular wavelengths of light (which Einstein called photons), it is possible to stimulate tissue and achieve physiological results. This method is known as The McLaren Method of Diagnosis and Therapy.
What is a Photon?
When light travels through air it is described as moving in very small waves which are measured in manometer's (nm). However, when light moves through other substances such as tissue it must be considered as if the energy was contained in little packets or photons.
Why stimulate the skin?
The skin is the largest organ of the body, comprises about 16% of the bodies weight and has two main functions which are protection and sensory. Under the skin is connective tissue which converts any stimulation (pressure, temperature or certain forms of light) into electrical impulses. When the skin is stimulated the information is conveyed to the brain electrically by the nerve cells.
What is an Acupuncture point?
An acupuncture point is an area of the skin of increased electrical conductivity, the stimulation of which can change the body's function by releasing chemicals from the brain.
Why stimulate with red light?
The energy of light (photons) is transformed into electrical energy by the connective tissue under our skin. This electrical energy is transmitted to the brain by the nerves. Stimulating specific combinations of points on the skin will cause the brain to release particular hormones and other chemicals to relieve pain, increase immune response and promote healing.
The McLaren Method of Diagnosis and Therapy utilizes broad band 660nm red light to provide the photons required to painlessly and safely stimulate tissue. Visible light is a small part of the electro-magnetic spectrum and ranges between 400-700nm. Wavelengths below 400nm (ultra violet) have high energy and do not penetrate deeply into tissue but can cause damage such as melanoma. Above 700nm in the infrared range there is less energy per photon and longer treatment times are required.
